The Treasure Principle
This is about giving. I will start with the tithe. To reach a point where you tithe regularly is not as easy as it sounds. Giving God a tenth of everything you make. You almost have to be saved by Christ to even consider it. It takes steps to get there. It is a true commitment to God. You have to respect God to do this. I won’t make light of how difficult it is to transition from giving nothing to the kingdom of God, to giving a tenth of every dollar you make. But the truth is, there are baby steps or training wheels when it comes to giving.
This is only the beginning. So let’s get started with “God’s Own Everything”. He created everything. As a believer in Christ, this is a fact. If you can only acknowledge God created everything, then you can reason that God owns everything. If you believe there is a heaven, that is where believers will go when they die. It stands to reason that this is not the final stop. We will transition from our earthly bodies to the spirit which is not our human body. When you can reach a point where you accept God’s Own Everything, you have come to the point of things (material) don’t have you. An example is when something is taken from you that you like or enjoy such as a car, jewelry, etc. If we’re honest, we feel an emotional attachment to our possessions.
We feel a certain way and it usually takes time to get over it. With this principle, God owns it, you come to the reality that material things on this earth are just that and can be replaced. We are just stewards or managers of what things we are blessed to have. Nothing travels into eternity with you (material things). Heaven is your destination after this life for the believer. You as a Child of Christ are sending treasures ahead by trading some of your earthly treasure to heavenly treasure in eternity. Eternity is a very, very real thing.
I can’t put a number on it but if we believe that some of the things they find here on Earth are millions of years old then eternity must be longer than that. It’s not normal to think of eternity while we go through everyday life but as believers in Christ, it is our business to know.
